Novo Nordisk study highlights benefits of Victoza

14th September 2011

Novo Nordisk has announced results from a new study that demonstrate the potential efficacy benefits of its diabetes therapy Victoza.

Data presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes annual meeting has showed that patients who switched from an alternative oral therapy to daily Victoza injections experienced an increase in treatment satisfaction.

Use of Novo Nordisk's treatment was associated with improvements in glycated haemoglobin levels and body weight, while the injectable therapy was also rated as being just as convenient and flexible as the alternative.

Patients were subsequently noted as saying they would recommend and continue with Victoza after switching to it.

Professor Melanie Davies, professor of diabetes medicine at the University of Leicester, said: "Patient satisfaction is becoming an increasingly more important factor when decisions about a treatment regimen are being made."

Earlier this week, Novo Nordisk announced that it will be launching a scheme in India that will provide free diabetes treatment to thousands of children.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800728400-ADNFCR
