Edelman has appointed Claudia Patton as its new chief talent officer as of the beginning of this month.
Ms Patton has more than 30 years of experience in the public relations field and has been with Edelman since 2002, when the company acquired The Headline Group, an organisation she founded in the early 1980s.
In her new role, she will become part of the company's executive committee and will work with its business leaders on issues such as global mobility, training and development, performance management and senior recruitment.
Ms Patton said she wishes to maintain the agency's industry-leading position at a time that has seen Edelman experience an 18 percent revenue increase in the last year.
"We want Edelman to be known as the firm where people can do their best work and make important contributions to society," she said.
This comes after The Holmes Report published figures last week showing that the firm was the most successful in the industry last year, based on global income.
