GlaxoSmithKline unveils London 2012 branding on Brentford base

12th September 2011

GlaxoSmithKline has unveiled a new London 2012 Olympic Games logo on the side of its headquarters in Brentford.

The 41-metre sign was officially revealed by British Olympic Gold medallist Rebecca Romero and is designed to be visible for miles, welcoming people as they journey to London from the west of England or via Heathrow Airport.

It is representative of the pharmaceutical company's strong involvement with the Games, having already agreed to perform more than 6,000 drug tests as official laboratory services provider for the event.

This work will be conducted via a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)-accredited laboratory run in partnership with King's College London.

GlaxoSmithKline chief executive Andrew Witty said: "We are immensely proud to be a partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and want to celebrate the role we will play in bringing science to the Games."

As part of its commitment to combat doping at London 2012, GlaxoSmithKline has agreed to provide WADA with information on its early-stage developmental compounds which could be open to abuse, due to their performance-enhancing qualities.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800725691-ADNFCR
