ALK Abello launches Jext adrenaline pen in Europe
ALK Abello has announced the European market debut of Jext, its new adrenaline auto-injector for the emergency treatment of severe acute allergic reactions.
The new pen is designed to be used in the emergency treatment of reactions to stimuli such as foods or bee stings, offering a longer shelf life and better cost-effectiveness than existing options.
It is the only product of its kind that can be kept at temperatures of above 25 degrees C and is also unique in featuring a needle shield that offers automatic needle protection after use.
Previously, ALK distributed an in-licensed adrenaline pen, with this new launch set to improve the company's profit margins and earnings for 2011.
ALK's president and chief executive officer Jens Bager said: "Jext was designed to address the significant unmet needs of anaphylaxis patients, carers and healthcare professionals."
Last month, the company published its financial results for the second quarter of 2011, during which it saw a 20 percent year-on-year growth in revenue.
