Eisai highlights new epilepsy research at IEC
Eisai has highlighted the progress of its epilepsy treatment portfolio at the 29th International Epilepsy Congress (IEC) taking place in Rome this week.
During the conference, the company presented phase III clinical study data highlighting the safety and efficacy of its new therapies perampanel and Zonegran, results which are aimed at supporting regulatory approval of the products.
An application has already been submitted earlier this year to the European Medicines Agency for ratification of perampanel as an adjunctive therapy for epilepsy patients with partial-onset seizures.
Data from three pivotal trials of Zebinix were also presented at IEC, alongside plans for further studies, underlining the key focus placed on epilepsy by the company.
"Eisai is committed to maximising its product portfolio in the area of epilepsy through both the development of new drugs and the life cycle management, which includes indication expansion," the firm said.
Earlier this year, Eisai announced that it will be strengthening its neuroscience research capabilities after entering a new phase of its long-running partnership with University College London.
