Bayer Consumer Care head named PAGB president

Bayer Consumer Care's UK head Meelis Reidla has been selected as the new president of the industry body the Proprietary Association of Great Britain (PAGB).
Mr Reidla has been tasked with driving forward the key objectives of the UK trade association for over-the-counter (OTC) medicine and food supplement manufacturers, including promoting self-care and improving the sector's reputation.
Prior to this, he has been involved with the organisation for two years, most recently in the position of vice-president.
He stated that it is vital that the OTC sector play a greater role in UK healthcare due to the increasing focus on efficiency within the NHS.
"It is estimated that as much as two billion pounds could be saved a year in the UK if all minor ailments would be managed by people themselves," Mr Reidla explained.
According to the Bayer group's most recent financial report, the company's global consumer health business saw a 4.1 percent year-on-year growth in sales in the second quarter of 2011.
