BMI Healthcare hospital opens revamped intensive care ward

10th August 2011

BMI Healthcare has announced the opening of a new intensive care ward at The Park Hospital in Nottinghamshire.

The facility, which is located at Burnstump County Park in Arnold, has had a cutting-edge five-bed critical care unit installed as part of a wider redevelopment programme costing almost eight million pounds.

It incorporates the world's first lighting system that is specifically designed for use in an intensive care setting, replicating the natural cycle of the day and offering 360-degree coverage to ensure optimal working conditions for clinicians.

This comes in addition to a number of advances in liver and pancreas surgery provisions implemented at The Park Hospital in recent years.

Consultant general surgeon Adam Brooks said: "The new critical care unit provides a state-of-the-art environment to care for these complex patients and will provide the opportunity for us to further develop the specialist surgery we can provide at The Park."

This comes after an advanced new CT scanning system from Toshiba was introduced at The Chiltern Hospital in Buckinghamshire earlier this month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800695094-ADNFCR
