Beiersdorf experiences growth in first half of 2011
Beiersdorf has announced its financial report for the first six months of 2011, during which the company experienced organic year-on-year sales growth of 2.6 percent.
The business's group sales total came to 2.9 billion euros (2.5 billion pounds), with increases attributed in large part to a surge in Nivea sales coinciding with the brand's 100th anniversary.
A considerable marketing drive has been implemented by the company to mark this occasion, with a new digital campaign having been launched by media agency Blast Radius last month.
As a result, Beiersdorf's consumer business was able to achieve strong results in the first half of the year, thus helping to offset the impact of portfolio streamlining initiatives.
Thomas Quaas, executive board chairman of the company, also noted the overall success of its skin and bodycare operations.
"Overall, our business in the first half of the year was in line with our planning," he added.
