Advanced Medical Solutions to work with Sinclair IS Pharma

Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) Group will work alongside Sinclair IS Pharma to develop advanced woundcare products.

The option and licensing agreement allows AMS to exclusively license the latter firm's Delmopinol dressing, which has been tested by the firm alongside several universities.

Chris Meredith, chief executive of AMS, admitted there is work to be done before an effective solution is created, but stressed that indications so far are very encouraging.

"We believe the future of advanced woundcare lies in antimicrobial and 'active' wound dressings. In this regard, our R&D programme has been looking into ways to control biofilms within chronic wounds," he said.

Delmopinol is the active ingredient in Sinclair IS Pharma's Decapinol oral health product and AMS are seeking to combine the substance with some of its own anti-microbial foam technologies.

Last month, the company highlighted the publication of two studies in The International Wound Journal and the Journal of Woundcare on its silver alginate dressings.
