Sigma-Aldrich launches new cell lines for cancer research

27th July 2011

Sigma-Aldrich has launched new knockout and knockin cell lines for the study of breast cancer, via its Sigma Life Science brand.

The new offerings are part of the company's CompoZr Oncology Disease Model portfolio and utilise Zinc Finger Nuclease technology to create modified epithelial cell lines for use in drug discovery, target validation and mechanistic studies.

They provide users with a characterised genetic background for basic research and pathway analysis and are applicable in high-throughput cell-based screening.

Using these cell lines will make it easier to identify patient-specific genetic alterations that can potentially affect drug sensitivity or drug resistance.

Supriya Shivakumar, global marketing manager at Sigma Life Science, said: "Researchers now have immediate access to high-quality knockout isogenic human cell lines, which should reduce the costs and labour required for basic research and drug discovery and could accelerate the development of personalised medicine."

Earlier this month, the company introduced the CompoZr Targeted Integration Kit – mRosa26, a transgene integration product for use on laboratory mice.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800635808-ADNFCR
