Siemens introduces new BNP assay for Dimension Vista

11th July 2011

Siemens has announced the launch of a new B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) assay for its Dimension Vista Intelligent Lab Systems offering.

The new LOCI BNP assay can be used for conducting rapid tests for use in the diagnosis of congestive heart failure, offering a combination of accuracy and quick turnaround time.

It is one of 120 assays now available for the Dimension Vista laboratory systems, which utilise advanced immunoassay technology to allow results to be provided in as little as 12 minutes.

Dave Hickey, chief executive officer for Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics' chemistry, immunoassay, automation and diagnostics IT business unit, noted that the platform can now simultaneously offer BNP and NT-proBNP assays.

"These types of additions to our product portfolio allow customers to further improve efficiencies and reduce costs in the laboratory," he said.

Last month, the company's Magnetom Verio 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging system was presented with an award for its clinical impact from the research firm Klas.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800618005-ADNFCR
