PerkinElmer has announced the acquisition of Dexela Limited, a UK provider of X-ray detector technologies with applications in the healthcare sector.
The London-based organisation specialises in flat panel complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS)-based innovations and services, which includes both hardware and software.
Using Dexela technology, clients are able to benefit from high-quality imaging capabilities, as well as high spatial resolution frame rate, reliability, low noise and an absence of image lag.
PerkinElmer expressed confidence that this takeover will help it to expand its presence in market areas such as surgery, dental computerised tomography, cardiology and mammography, as well as non-destructive testing.
Brian Giambattista, president of medical imaging at PerkinElmer, said: "Dexela has been a pioneer in the development of CMOS X-ray detection solutions and has achieved award-winning recognition in the imaging market for its design strengths and ease of manufacturability."
This comes after the firm agreed a deal last month to acquire Labtronics, which develops procedures-based electronic laboratory notebook solutions.
