Bracco signs deal to acquire Nycomed manufacturing facilities

Bracco's diagnostic imaging division has agreed to take over part of the manufacturing facilities owned by Nycomed in southern Germany.
The company said the agreement will consolidate its long-standing partnership with Nycomed, which has been producing contrast media agents for Bracco Imaging at the Singen site for many years.
Under the terms of the deal, ownership of the facilities will be transferred by the Swiss-based pharmaceutical firm to a transitional company, which will then be acquired by Bracco.
"The agreement makes the internalisation of important Bracco production steps and the strengthening of Bracco's presence in Germany possible," said Giordano Righini, general manager of operations at Bracco Imaging.
Nycomed's general manager Rainer Wiartalla added that Singen, which is located close to the Swiss border in the southern state of Baden-Wurttemberg, "will remain a vital manufacturing centre for contrast media agents".
Bracco Imaging is one of several divisions of Bracco, along with Acist Medical Systems, Pharma and the group's Milan-based diagnostic clinic.
