Thermo Fisher Scientific completes Dionex acquisition

18th May 2011

Thermo Fisher Scientific has completed the acquisition of leading chromatography systems manufacturer Dionex.

This week, the company finalised its tender offer for Dionex and has completed the purchase of all outstanding shares, completing a takeover process that was initially commenced in December 2010.

Dionex is based in California and was responsible for the creation of the world's first ion chromatography system for water analysis shortly after its inception in 1975, with its operations now spanning 21 nations and six continents.

Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher, said this deal will allow the company to expand the scope of its business and allow it to gain greater access to various untapped markets.

"We welcome Dionex employees to the Thermo Fisher team and look forward to working together to fulfil our mission, which is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer," he said.

This week, the science firm also announced that it has agreed a deal to purchase Sterilin, a UK-based provider of single-use plastic products for the microbiology, life sciences and clinical markets.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800548324-ADNFCR
