Biotronik reports positive trial data on Pantera Lux balloon
Biotronik's paclitaxel-releasing balloon device Pantera Lux has demonstrated a positive performance in a new clinical study.
Six-month data from the Pepper trial has revealed that patients receiving treatment for restenotic coronary artery lesions with the balloon experienced a very low risk of revascularisations, while no cardiac deaths were recorded during the period.
Biotronik's device is designed to provide optimal drug transfer to the target lesion tissue following drug-eluting or bare metal stenting.
Based on the positive trial data gathered for Pantera Lux thus far, the manufacturer will now be seeking to expand the study programme.
Alain Aimonetti, vice-president of sales and marketing for Biotronik Vascular Intervention, said this will include "the international multicentre Delux trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of the device for in-stent restenotic lesions in more than 1,000 patients in a real-world setting".
Last month, the company completed enrolment for a new study of its Home Monitoring system, which is designed to evaluate its impact on heart failure management.
