Norbrook Laboratories named among top European companies

Norbrook Laboratories has been named as one of the top 50 companies in Europe at a prestigious event in Brussels.

The accolade was presented to the animal health company by former German chancellor Gerhard Schroder in recognition of its recent successes and innovative work, as well as the positive contribution it makes to the EU economy.

It comes after a year in which the Northern Ireland-based company expanded considerably, recruiting a total of 300 new staff members during the last 12 months.

A further 79 employees have been recruited so far in 2011, while its site in Carnbane, Newry is being broadened with the addition of a 75,000 sq ft manufacturing facility.

Lord Ballyedmond, chairman and chief executive officer of Norbrook Laboratories, said: "To be listed among the Top 50 companies in Europe for generating sustainable growth and jobs is an outstanding achievement for Norbrook and one for which we are immensely proud."

Last July, the company became the first in Europe to launch a four-in-one injection for sheep that can treat mature and late immature fluke, worms and scabs at the same time.
