Henry Schein honoured for social responsibility by Fortune

Henry Schein has been named as one of the world's most admired companies by industry publication Fortune, based on its strong commitment to corporate responsibility.

The dental and health supplies company was ranked first in terms of social responsibility and global competitiveness in the healthcare wholesalers sector, based on a survey of 673 different firms.

This recognition takes into account the work done by the company's global corporate social responsibility programme Henry Schein Cares, which is dedicated to providing for underserved communities via public-private partnerships.

For example, earlier this month Henry Schein set up a Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund via the scheme, which will provide aid to the Asian nation following the natural disaster on March 11th 2011.

Stanley Bergman, the organisation's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "Being recognised by our peers and other business leaders for our accomplishments in social responsibility, as well as for our global competitiveness, is a source of great pride for us."
