Biotronik completes enrolment for new Home Monitoring trial

30th March 2011

Biotronik has completed enrolment for a clinical trial that aims to evaluate the impact of its Home Monitoring system on the management of heart failure.

The company has selected 720 chronic heart failure sufferers for the international In-Time study, which will track the effect Biotronik Home Monitoring has on rates of mortality, unplanned hospitalisation and worsening of conditions.

Evaluation will be based on the system's effect on the Packer Score metric and is intended to add to the body of clinical evidence demonstrating the healthcare solution's benefits.

It is hoped that by using Home Monitoring, physicians will be able to detect issues such as atrial or ventricular arrhythmia sooner and intervene before serious or fatal events occur.

Marlou Janssen, global vice-president of marketing and sales at Biotronik, said: "We firmly believe that there is no better way to demonstrate the reliability and possibilities of our therapies than with clinical investigations of such a high evidence standard as In-Time."

Earlier this month, the company announced the European launch of AlCath Flux eXtra Gold, a new ablation catheter system for atrial fibrillation treatment.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800481103-ADNFCR
