Quintiles selected as partner to PDP consortium
Quintiles is to lend clinical development support to a consortium of 14 not-for-profit global health product development partnerships (PDPs).
The contract research organisation has been selected as a preferred service provider for the consortium partners, which are responsible for advancing research into new treatments for neglected diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis.
Quintiles will offer easy access to its global clinical development infrastructure and standards in order to assist the consortium, which is expected to fund 128 phase I-IV clinical trials over the next two years.
Dr Kelly McKee, Quintiles' vice-president and managing director for public health and government services, said the work being conducted by the PDPs can potentially save millions of lives.
"We are very excited to be named a preferred provider to the consortium and look forward to helping advance this critical mission," she added.
This week, Quintiles also announced that its health-based social community MediGuard.org has reached 2.5 million members since its launch three years ago.
