GE Healthcare launches compact and comfortable MRI scanner

29th March 2011

GE Healthcare has announced the launch of a compact new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device that aims to deliver greater convenience and comfort for patients.

The Optima MR430s eschews the traditional full-body scanning system and instead allows clinicians to target specific areas of the anatomy, with only this part of the body going inside the system.

This is more comfortable and less stressful for patients, who will therefore be less prone to accidental movement, thereby improving the quality of the image.

GE Healthcare also noted that the device, which is small and easy to install, can offer the performance quality that medical professionals require and can help to ease demand on hospitals' full-body scanners.

Jim Davis, general manager for GE Healthcare's MRI business, said: "By making MR accessible to more patients and providing imaging that's both advanced and cost-effective, the Optima MR430s provides a remarkably improved experience for patients."

This comes in the same week that the manufacturer also announced the release of Centricity Research, a new system that facilitates the process of clinical research management.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800479566-ADNFCR
