Allergan reappoints CEO David Pyott as president

Allergan has announced that its chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) David Pyott has been re-appointed to the role of company president.

Mr Pyott will resume the position on March 27th 2011 as he replaces the departing F Michael Ball, who is leaving the company to become the chief executive officer of Hospira.

The move will see Allergan's CEO once again take up a role he originally filled from 1998 until 2006 and will allow the company to make a seamless transition, without affecting its established corporate strategies.

Allergan states that the reorganisation will allow Mr Pyott to contribute further to the business' development, while also eliminating an organisational layer.

Scott Sherman, Allergan's executive vice-president for human resources, said: "The decision to create direct reporting lines between Mr Pyott and Allergan's commercial leaders … supports our commitment to talent development and succession planning, providing opportunities that will advance our next generation of leaders."

Last month, the Allergan CEO forecast strong growth for the company in the coming year based on encouraging financial data for the fourth quarter of 2010.
