AAH, Alliance Healthcare and Phoenix to become exclusive Abbott distributors

AAH, Alliance Healthcare and Phoenix Healthcare are to become the exclusive distributors of Abbott pharmacy products in the UK.
The three pharmacy wholesalers have been selected as the only companies to provide the drug manufacturer's offerings to British community pharmacies, a deal which will commence on March 1st 2011.
This arrangement will affect a wide array of pharmaceutical, nutritional and diabetes treatments from Abbott.
In addition, a specific arrangement has been made with Phoenix to distribute the hospital products Chirocaine, Klaricid IV, Sevoflurane and Zemplar, which were previously available only from Abbott.
Abbott stated that it will be working together closely with the three distributors in order to "ensure a smooth transition to the new arrangements".
The firm becomes the latest in a series of companies to agree exclusive sales arrangements with the three companies in the last 12 months, with similar deals having been confirmed by Astellas, Eisai and Boehringer Ingelheim.
