Sartorius appoints new president of laboratory business

Sartorius has announced the appointment of Dominique Baly to the newly-created position of president of its laboratory business.

Mr Baly joins the company's highest-level management team following a career of more than 35 years at fellow life sciences firm Merck Millipore, where he accrued extensive sales and management experience.

In his new role at Sartorius, he will take charge of cross-divisional management of marketing, sales and services in the laboratory business sector and report directly to chief executive officer Dr Joachim Kreuzburg.

Sartorius states that Mr Baly's appointment, which increases the size of its top-level management team to six, will aid its efforts to expand this business unit.

Dr Kreuzburg said: "He will give our laboratory business decisive momentum in this fast-evolving market environment to define the future positioning for significant growth."

According to the company's most recent financial report, Sartorius saw improved business during 2010, with orders increasing by 11.8 percent year-on-year during the first nine months.
