Horiba Medical upgrades laboratory quality control system

Horiba Medical has produced an upgrade for its external inter-laboratory quality control programme (QCP).
Designed for haematology and clinical chemistry analysers, QCP version II allows users to submit internal quality control results online and evaluate their accuracy using real-time peer group statistics.
The comparison service is fully customisable and information from analysers can be automatically uploaded via a USB key from the data management system, meaning no manual data input is required.
Horiba Medical described QCP as "a highly effective online inter-laboratory comparison tool for both haematology and clinical chemistry" on account of its many features.
According to the firm, the programme can help companies to meet regulatory requirements and detect data quality changes in real time.
All reports and data submitted using QCP are stored and available online for 24 months.
In October, Horiba Medical announced the installation of a BX Pentra 60C+ benchtop haematology analyser and Pentra SAfe solution to deliver audit trails at Watford General Hospital.
