Medtronic to launch new curette for treating spine injuries

8th October 2010

Medtronic has introduced a new curette which makes it easier for physicians to treat vertebral compression fractures and other spinal injuries.

The Kyphon Express Curette is compatible with other Kyphon Express access tools and allows maximum control to be exerted when scraping or scoring bone in the spine.

It can be used alongside the manufacturer's Kyphon Balloon Kyphoplasty offering for addressing vertebral compression fractures and is available in T-tip with a torque resetting device.

Alex DiNello, vice-president and general manager of Medtronic's Kyphon products division, noted that its balloon kyphoplasty product has proven a success since its 2000 introduction, with 800,000 fractures having been treated worldwide.

He added: "Medtronic is committed to the continued advancement of this important and specialised treatment to ensure the best outcomes for patients who suffer from debilitating spinal fractures."

Earlier this month, the company published new study results which showcased the effectiveness of its Reveal Plus technology in collating important data on heart disease progression.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800106434-ADNFCR
