3M Health Care has been chosen by international healthcare performance improvement firm Premier Inc to provide supplies and services to its member hospitals.
Premier, which works with organisations such as the NHS and the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, has provided a sole source contract to 3M Health Care for its range of sterilisation assurance products.
This means that 3M products such as indicator tapes, Bowie Dick tests and biological and chemical indicators will be provided to around 70,000 healthcare sites as of October 1st 2010.
In addition to this, Premier has also awarded 3M an Ascend contract as part of its Premier Ascend programme, which sees hospitals aim to reduce operation costs via better clinical utilisation, contract negotiation and purchasing processes.
Last month, the 3M group published its financial report for the second quarter of 2010, during which its healthcare division saw a 5.7 per cent year-on-year sales increase.
