Posted on 24/08/2010 in Medical Company Product News Bausch and Lomb has expanded its range of retinal surgery products with the launch of a new Stellaris system.
The Stellaris PC (Procedural Choice) Vision Enhancement System is a combined vitrectomy and phacoemulsification system, which allows vitreoretinal and cataract surgery to be managed using a single platform.
Among the features of the new device - which replaces the Millennium Microsurgical System - is a dual light source and colour filters for better viewing of ocular tissue, as well as support for small incisions.
It also utilises lightweight, high-speed vitrectomy probes, a small footprint and wireless footpedal controls to maximise ease of use.
Russ Finlay, global marketing director for the vitreoretinal business at Bausch and Lomb, said: "By listening to what surgeons want, we have developed a product that makes sense for today's operating room and the doctors and patients that depend on them."
Earlier this year, Bausch and Lomb launched the Toric Eye-App calculator, an application for the Apple iPhone which helps clinicians to fit toric lenses more efficiently. Other news stories from 24/08/2010
