Posted on 23/08/2010 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News Novartis has presented three healthcare researchers with prizes recognising their achievements in furthering understanding of immunology.
The company presented the Novartis 2010 Immunology Prizes to professors Michael Bevan, Charles Dinarello and Juerg Tschopp for projects focusing on areas such as T-cell response and the use of Interleukin-1 beta antagonists against inflammatory disease.
These recipients were selected based on the recommendations of an independent panel, chaired by Oxford-based expert Sir Andrew McMichael, while each prize is worth 100,000 Swiss francs (62,200 pounds).
Professor Dhavalkumar Patel, head of Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research Europe, said the experts' research will help in the development of future immunological disease therapies.
He added: "The Novartis Immunology Prizes are an integral part of our commitment to and appreciation of scientific innovation."
