| BD completes sale of medical device assets | Posted on 09/08/2010 in Medical Company Restructures BD has strengthened its business with the sale of certain assets from its medical device portfolio to the RoundTable Healthcare Partners group.
The company has divested its ophthalmic systems unit to RoundTable in accordance with an agreement signed on June 8th 2010, while its surgical blades product platform has been sold to RoundTable subsidiary Aspen Surgical Products.
BD is set to make a profit on these sales which will be recorded in the fourth financial quarter of the year.
Explaining the move earlier this year, BD chairman and chief executive officer Edward Ludwig stated that the company wishes to focus its resources on the parenteral medication delivery field.
It also expects to complete the sale of the critical care and extended dwell catheter product ranges to RoundTable later this year.
Earlier this month, the company published its financial report for the most recent quarter of 2010, announcing gains in its medical, diagnostics and biosciences operations. Other news stories from 09/08/2010
