| Colgate-Palmolive increases market share in second quarter | Posted on 04/08/2010 in Dental Supplier News Colgate-Palmolive has been able to improve its standing in the toothpaste and manual toothbrush markets during the second quarter of 2010.
The dental supplier's share of the toothbrush sector rose by 1.4 percentage points to 31.6 per cent, while the firm now commands a record 44.4 per cent of the toothpaste market, led by gains in nations such as the UK.
This trend contributed to a worldwide sales total of $3.8 billion (2.4 billion pounds), up by two per cent year-on-year, while its earnings marked a new second-quarter record for Colgate-Palmolive.
Ian Cook, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the company, commented that these gains came despite Colgate's high levels of recent commercial investment.
He added: "We have a very full pipeline of new products planned for launch in the second half of the year with continued strong levels of commercial spending to support them."
