The state-of-the-art facility covers around 5,500 sq m and will distribute around 100,000 products on a daily basis, strengthening Alliance Healthcare's ties to local health providers.
This opening, which was attended by more than 100 delegates from the industry, came as the company marked the first anniversary of UK trading under the Alliance Healthcare brand.
Ornella Barra, chief executive of the pharmaceutical wholesale division at parent company Alliance Boots, said the new centre will allow the firm to increase its efficiency and meet healthcare needs.
He added: "This is our priority and by investing in our network, we are today providing greater efficiency, greater speed and greater capacity for the benefit of all our stakeholders."
Alliance Boots also recently increased its stake in the Turkish pharmaceutical wholesaler Hedef Alliance, in order to strengthen its international business standing. Other news stories from 04/08/2010
