Posted on 03/08/2010 in Animal Health Supplier News Bayer Animal Health has published new insights in healthcare issues arising from the recent Annual Canine Vector Borne Disease (CVBD) World Forum, which it helped to organise.
The event, which took place earlier this year in New York, allowed animal health experts to present on the growing threat that CVBDs are posing to both animals and humans worldwide.
Among these was a study from the University of Bristol, which highlighted the fact that changing travel restrictions between the UK and the EU, combined with rising temperatures in Britain, are increasing the likelihood of CVBDs entering the UK.
These conclusions were reflected by other studies from across Europe, with infections such as babesiosis and leishmaniosis highlighted as major threats.
Sarah Weston of Bayer Animal Health said: "The CVBD World Forum is another example of Bayer Animal Health delivering on our commitment to improving the understanding and treatment of CVBDs."
This comes after the company last month agreed a new collaboration with veterinary drug molecule developer Paraco to create new treatments to combat parasites that target domestic animals. Other news stories from 03/08/2010
