| BD to launch new CD4 testing reagents for HIV treatment | Posted on 20/07/2010 in Scientific BD has announced the forthcoming launch of a new range of reagents which are designed for CD4 monitoring in global HIV and Aids treatment.
The new dried reagents have been developed in collaboration with ReaMetrix and will be compatible with the BD FACSCount flow cytometry system.
Their dried-down nature means that they will be particularly well-suited for sale and use in developing nations, as they do not require refrigeration or special temperature conditions during transport and storage.
BD states that it expects the product to be launched in 2011 and will help to bring access to an important means of HIV testing to resource-limited territories.
Bill Rhodes, president of BD Biosciences, added: "A key strategic driver behind the BD Global Health initiative focuses on expanding access to diagnostic products customised for use in developing settings."
Last month, BD announced that it will be providing funding and training to healthcare facilities in Kenya as part of the US President's Emergency Plan for Aids Relief programme.Other news stories from 20/07/2010
