Posted on 19/07/2010 in Dental Supplier News Sirona has underlined the benefits the latest upgraded version of its Galileos 3D imaging system can deliver to dental practitioners with a new case study.
The dental technology firm selected Dr Daniel Marini, an Illinois-based dentist, as the first professional to receive the new hardware upgrade to the Sirona Galileos CT scanner.
It was found that the doctor was able to use the newly-updated machine to deliver the same level of precision when scanning dental implant patients, while reducing the amount of radiation to which the user was exposed.
The enhancements help to augment the existing benefits of the Galileos device, which is said to provide ten per cent less radiation than a conventional medical CT scanner.
Dr Marini added: "The Sirona system generates a three dimensional model of the patient's jaw on a computer screen and the surgery is performed virtually before the procedure even starts."
Last month, Sirona announced the UK launch of Cerec Connect, its digital dental impression technology which allows for the quick creation of dental restorations.Other news stories from 19/07/2010
