Posted on 16/07/2010 in Pharmaceutical Company Restructures Amgen has announced the appointment of former Novartis executive Jonathan Peacock as its new executive vice-president and chief financial officer (CFO).
Mr Peacock joins the pharmaceutical company after acting as Novartis' CFO and administration officer since 2005, while he has previously occupied roles at firms such as McKinsey and Company.
He takes over the position at Amgen from Michael Kelly, who has been serving as acting CFO since May 2010.
When Mr Peacock takes up his position on September 1st, he will report directly to chairman and chief executive officer Kevin Sharer and will be responsible for finance and investor relations operations.
Mr Sharer said of the appointment: "I am delighted to have a leader of Jonathan's talent, vision and international experience join Amgen at a time when we are expanding globally."
Last month, Amgen was granted marketing authorisation from European regulators for Prolia, a new treatment designed to prevent fractures among postmenopausal women with osteoporosis.Other news stories from 16/07/2010
