Posted on 15/07/2010 in Medical Company Product News Hospira has highlighted the potential benefits of its TheraDoc clinical surveillance system with results from a case study in the US.
The trial was conducted at the Memorial Hospital Miramar in Florida, with the site implementing the TheraDoc Infection Control Assistant to monitor the number of interventions and catheters being removed, as well as infection rates.
It was found that use of the system allowed the hospital's infection preventionist to better assess the impact of interventions, which in turn was accompanied by a reduction in urinary and central line catheter-related infections.
Stanley Pestotnik, general manager for the TheraDoc product line, said the technology can also be used in applications such as tracking H1N1 cases and meeting paediatric asthma core quality measures.
He added: "Its success with these initiatives illustrates the versatility of the TheraDoc platform to help clinicians quickly address quality and patient safety challenges that hospitals face every day."
Last month, Hospira sponsored the 15th Congress of the European Haematology Association, an international symposium which spotlighted the problem of elderly patients missing out on opportunities to enter clinical trials for haematology drugs.Other news stories from 15/07/2010
