Posted on 13/07/2010 in Scientific Eppendorf has launched a new PCR plate product which is designed to split easily into four parts for versatility and efficiency benefits.
The science company's twin.tec unskirted 96-well plates have been manufactured using a combination of rigid polycarbonate and polypropylene wells, ensuring mechanical stability and non-reactivity to the samples contained within.
Each 96-well plate can be snapped into four separate 24-well segment which can be saved for future use if the specific experiment does not require the use of the entire capacity.
Eppendorf's senior manager for PCR products Dr Kay Korner said the new product is the first divisible two-component PCR plate and provides a superior alternative to dividing plates manually.
Dr Korner added: "These new 96-well twin.tec plates can simply be snapped into pre-defined segments so that 24, 48 or 72 wells can be used as required - reducing waste and bringing significant cost savings.'
Last month, Eppendorf published its annual report for 2009, a year which saw the company experience a 5.9 per cent increase in net sales.Other news stories from 13/07/2010
