Schering-Plough has announced that AAH Pharmaceuticals, Alliance Healthcare and Phoenix are to become its exclusive UK pharmacy distributors.
The reduced wholesale supply deal for Schering-Plough prescription medicines will come into effect as of July 1st 2010, reports Chemist and Druggist.
All three of the firms chosen by Schering-Plough have expressed satisfaction with the agreement, with AAH managing director saying: "Our customers will welcome the inclusion of AAH as it means they can continue to order Schering-Plough products from us in the normal way."
Schering-Plough explained that the change has been made in order to create a more "efficient and streamlined" supply chain for its products.
It added that it does not expect the majority of pharmacy customers to experience a change in their ordering procedures.
Earlier this year, Schering-Plough's consumer healthcare division launched an over-the-counter version of its prescription drug Zegerid, a treatment for heartburn combining two active ingredients, after receiving regulatory approval.
