Posted on 25/06/2010 in Scientific Hologic has been granted European Reference Organization (EUREF) mammographic type test certification for its Hologic Selenia digital mammography system.
The science firm's system was awarded the accreditation by the not-for-profit organisation's council for quality-assured breast screening and diagnostic services, recognising its high stability, image quality and radiation exposure standards.
According to Hologic, this makes Selenia the first mammography system of any variety to be awarded this certification.
Peter Soltani, senior vice-president of breast health at Hologic, said that the qualities highlighted by EUREF have helped to make Selenia the world's most popular digital mammography system.
He added: "The EUREF mammographic type test confirms what we've learned through our own clinical trials and scientific investigations - the Selenia system is optimal for use in mammography.
Last month, Hologic launched a new version of its NovaSure endometrial ablation system, which allows women to be rapidly treated for excessive menstrual bleeding.Other news stories from 25/06/2010
