Posted on 23/06/2010 in Scientific Thermo Fisher Scientific has been presented with an award from software company Microsoft in recognition of its informatics offerings for the life sciences sector.
The science firm has won the Microsoft Life Sciences Innovation Award, which recognises industry-leading use of Microsoft-based solutions, for the third year in a row.
It was honoured with the prize for its work with Emory University, which utilises the Thermo Scientific Nautilus laboratory information management system (LIMS) as a key part of its translational science informatics infrastructure.
In particular, Thermo Fisher Scientific's technology was praised for its use of Microsoft tools to deliver online functionality and intuitive graphical interfaces.
Dave Champagne, vice-president and general manager of informatics at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "Our enterprise LIMS solution, which has been implemented at Emory University, makes the industry's goal of advancing scientific discoveries amongst a community of institutions a reality."
Earlier this month, Thermo Fisher Scientific announced plans to purchase molecular and cellular biology research firm Fermentas International, thereby expanding its presence in the field of polymerase chain reaction technology.Other news stories from 23/06/2010
