BD extends grants for stem cell research
BD’s biosciences division has announced an extension of a research grant programme designed to promote stem cell research projects.
The science firm has added $100,000 (67,600 pounds) worth of reagents, cell culture tools and labware to its annual support provision, which brings its annual total contributions to the sector to $240,000.
It states that this money will help to fund research into fields such as multicolour flow cytometry, immune function, cell signalling and cancer, which will help to improve understanding both of normal and disease-affected biological processes.
Robert Balderas, vice-president of biological sciences at BD Biosciences, said: “BD Biosciences is proud to do its part to help advance some of the most promising stem cell and immunology research that could one day help cure or prevent disease.”
Earlier this month, the company published its annual Sustainability Report, highlighting its achievements in environmental and corporate responsibility during 2009.
These included prominent rankings on sustainable company lists compiled by the likes of Dow Jones, Ethisphere and Newsweek.
