3M Health Care has announced the launch of a new range of foam adhesive dressings, which are designed to deliver a number of qualities desired by wound care professionals.
The Tegaderm High Performance Foam Adhesive Dressing range has been created in response to a 2009 industry survey which revealed that professionals felt their needs were not being met by existing products.
Among the desired improvements highlighted by the survey were absorbency, length of wear time and prevention of maceration, all of which 3M has moved to address with its new product.
It states that the effectiveness of the new Tegaderm range has been validated by laboratory and clinical studies, during which its product outperformed those of five other manufacturers in terms of fluid management.
Paul Keel, president of 3M's skin and wound care division, said: "3M scientists created a full line of foam adhesive dressings that offer higher fluid handling capacity and longer wear times as compared to other leading brands, offering ? potential for greater cost savings."
Last month, 3M was presented with a Gold Award at the Edison Best New Products Award gala, honouring the design of its Littmann Model 3200 stethoscope and accompanying Zargis Cardioscan software.
