| Biohit appoints new president and CEO | Posted on 11/06/2010 in Scientific Biohit has announced that Jussi Heinio is to take over from Professor Osmo Suovaniemi as the company's president and chief executive officer (CEO).
Mr Heinio has been employed by Biohit since 1997 and stepped into his new role earlier this week from his previous position as executive vice-president and vice-president of administration and legal affairs.
Professor Suovaniemi, who founded the company, will not leave Biohit despite his resignation from the top executive position, remaining chairman of the board of scientific advisors and a member of the board of directors.
Mr Heinio stated that he will be looking to lead the company in a "truly international direction", drawing upon its subsidiary network and resources.
He added: "Osmo Suovaniemi has made Biohit a success with his inventions and fearless approach and I am very excited about having the opportunity to continue this story."
Last month, the company published its financial results for the first quarter of 2010, reporting a 14 per cent year-on-year sales increase for the period.Other news stories from 11/06/2010
