Posted on 09/06/2010 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News ALK Abello's grass allergy immunotherapy tablet Grazax has demonstrated its long-term effectiveness in a landmark clinical study.
Data presented at the European Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology congress showed that Grazax is the only treatment of its kind to demonstrate sustained control over hay fever symptoms two years after treatment completion.
This is particularly significant due to Grazax's ability to treat the root cause of the condition, as opposed to antihistamine tablets and nasal corticosteroid sprays, which address symptoms.
Erkka Valovirta, chief paediatrician and paediatric allergist at the Allergy Center Turku in Finland, said these findings could represent a breakthrough for allergy sufferers across Europe.
He said: "Grazax fulfils the EMEA demands for robust clinical data on specific immunotherapy in treating allergic symptoms, showing long-term efficacy and sustained clinical effect during and after treatment completion."
Last month, ALK Abello published its financial breakdown for the first quarter of 2010, reporting a 13 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue.Other news stories from 09/06/2010
