ResMed's design work on its S9 Series air-regulating medical device has been recognised with a prestigious industry award.
The company has been presented with a red dot award for 2010 product design, competing against a field of 4,252 rival products from companies based in 57 nations around the world.
Its prize-winning S9 Series, a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure/Autoadjusting Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP/APAP) therapy for patients with sleep apnoea, was designed by ResMed to offer a sleek appearance while retaining superior functionality.
The device's aesthetics have been tailored to fit in with the look of a modern home, rather than the standard hospital equipment style offered by most other CPAP/APAP units.
Michael Farrell, senior vice-president of ResMed's global sleep strategic business unit, said: "Winning the red dot award is solid third-party validation that the S9 Series is a revolution in sleep apnoea therapy with its unique blend of technological progress and modern design."
Last month, the company allied with Mach Communications and KORE Telematics to provide a new global communications platform for the S9 Series.
