Posted on 28/05/2010 in Pharmaceutical Company Product News Galderma has launched a new gel-based treatment for prescription to sufferers of mild to moderate acne.
The dermatology specialist's new Epiduo treatment is designed for use against acne vulgaris when comedones, papules and pustules are present, reducing lesions by 25.7 per cent within seven days.
Its efficacy has been established in clinical trials conducted over a period of one year, which demonstrated the gel's long-term efficacy and allow the Epiduo to be prescribed for as long as is necessary.
Dr Stephen Kownacki, chairman of the Primary Care Dermatology Society, said the release of the new therapy, which is a combination of the proven agents adapalene and benzoyl peroxide, will be welcomed by GPs and skincare specialists.
He added: "The more easy-to-use options we have to treat patients the better and we know that studies have shown a significant benefit for combination products which aid patient compliance."
Other acne treatment brands offered by Galderma include Eryacne, which includes the active ingredient erythromycine, as well as the clindamycin-based Clindagel.Other news stories from 28/05/2010
