Posted on 27/05/2010 in Scientific Radiometer has released a Basic version of its ABL80 Flex portable blood gas analyser, which is designed for use in smaller clinics.
The compact edition of the device provides the same quality and accuracy as the standard model when measuring blood gases, pH, hematocrit and electrolytes, but offers a smaller and more economical set of features.
It is designed to deliver an extended in-use lifespan thanks to new features such as a power-saving standby mode, as well as being scalable should additional functionality be required.
Radiometer president Peter Kurstein said the Basic device is ideal for smaller clinics and departments which do not require the "comprehensive blood gas solution" provided by the standard unit.
He added: "What this product does is enable us to fulfil these very specific needs without our customers having to compromise on quality."
This comes after the firm was presented with a Medical Design Excellence Award for the standard ABL90 Flex last month, the first time it has won this prize.Other news stories from 27/05/2010
