Posted on 25/05/2010 in Medical Company Restructures Welch Allyn has strengthened its commitment to the medical diagnostics sector through the sale of its surgical lighting and specialty metal halide product lines.
Over the course of the next year, the firm will transition surgical headlight assets such as ProXenon to Integra LifeSciences, while its specialty metal halide offerings will be sold to Ushio.
The firm's medical office lighting business will not be affected by this decision, with Welch Allyn stating that it is still keen to expand in this area with products such as the recently launched Green Series Medical Exam Lights.
Julie Shimer, president and chief executive officer of Welch Allyn, said this is part of the firm's strategy of exiting business areas not directly related to its core focus on medical products.
She added: "We intend to remain true to the legacy of delivering quality medical devices which are the core of our company's growth and success."
This comes after the firm last month confirmed the purchase of Trimline Medical Products, thereby expanding its offering of blood pressure management devices.Other news stories from 25/05/2010
