Posted on 12/05/2010 in Medical Company Product News Biotronik has announced the launch of a new irrigated RF contact force ablation catheter for use in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation.
The new TactiCath catheter is manufactured by Endosense and is designed to allow physicians to assume greater control over contact force, thereby reducing the risk of damaging the heart while ablating cardiac tissue.
It has already been tested at a number of sites across Europe, winning acclaim from medical experts as well as meeting safety and efficacy targets in key clinical trials.
Marlou Janssen, global vice-president of marketing and sales for Biotronik, said the agreement of its licensing deal for TactiCath demonstrates the firm's focus on atrial fibrillation ablation technology.
He added: "The TactiCath complements an already robust portfolio of ablation and diagnostic catheters, surrounded by comprehensive customer education and an international fellows programme."
Last month, Biotronik was awarded approval to launch a new pacemaker system which is compatible with magnetic resonance imaging scanning in Europe.Other news stories from 12/05/2010
