Posted on 06/05/2010 in Scientific 3M has been awarded with another industry accolade in honour of its work on the Littmann Model 3200 stethoscope and accompanying Zargis Cardioscan software.
The technology firm won a Gold Award at the Edison Best New Products Award gala, which is conducted annually by Discovery Channel, in recognition of its Bluetooth-enabled stethoscope.
In recent month, the Littmann device - which wirelessly transfers data on heart, lung and body sounds for analysis - has also won the red dot: Best of the Best award for product design, as well as the Medical Design Excellence Award.
Debra Rectenwald, president and general manager of 3M's Infection Prevention Division, expressed confidence that its stethoscope system will help to advance the way in which physicians interpret heart sounds.
She added: "This major award win is a testament to the spirit that drives 3M's innovation to develop and create new ways to improve the delivery of healthcare."
Last month, 3M won further industry recognition for its achievements in environmental performance after earning Gold-Class distinction in the 2010 Dow Jones Sustainability Index.Other news stories from 06/05/2010
